question about svcd running time on a cdr????

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

So i dl'ed some stuff to make super vcds and the files i ran in (at 3000bit) was saying it was too high for the format. So i guess as long as it doesnt exceed 2600?. Well anyway my question was how much space do supervcds use up on a cdr? For example if i make a regular vcd with a bitrate of 2500 at 34mins long, it comes close to using up an 80min cdr when burned. Does the svcd follow the same kind of principal, or does it encode at the high rate, but using a regular time so that a 34minfile, will be a 34min file on a cdr?? thanks

I am wondering what bitrate you encode a S-vcd at. Ok.. so I know it's mpeg2 and I havce an mpeg2 encoder (DVmpeg) but it has no option to encode at S-vcd standard. I don't know if you can even chose 480 x 480 which is what you need for S-vcd. Then can you just take that file and put it into I-author and make a simple s-vcd? Has ANYONE here actually made a working S-vcd and gotten it to play on stand alone S-vcd player? I have seen a DVD player that supported S-vcd and it read my normal cd-r VCD disc, so I am desperately trying to learn how to properly make a s-vcd so I can go test it at the store, and if it works, I'll buy the s-vcd player and some more s-vcd making software.
