I have a SQL Server 7.0 database machine that has service pack 1 for 7.0. I would like to change the NT machine name. According to Microsoft, you have to rerun the SQL Server setup after the name change and select upgrade which should not affect your databases. If the SQL setup is rerun, does this affect the service pack or does the service pack stay intact. Thanks for your assistance.

I do not belive that this type of "reinstallation" will affect your service pack. You can check double check your service pack number before and after the SQL Server setup with:

select @@version

7.00.623 means No Service Pack

7.00.689 means Service Pack 1 Beta

7.00.699 means Service Pack 1
