On Friday when I was to fly to Phoenix, there was a system wide computer failure for many airlines, American West amongst them...That day over 200 American West flights alone were cancelled. I spent until 4pm being rescheduled etc. (from 4:30am) and finally made it to Arizona at 9pm instead of 10am !!!

On the train yesterday the man next to me was quite upset....."what's going on"? "I work for the federal government in Miami and all the government computers from West Palm Beach to Key West are going down like a house of cards." The man in front of us said "I'm coming from the VA Hospital in WPB and they are under a GREEN alert." ...."What' that"? ....system wide computer failure. Interesting This morning I arrive at the train station and learn there is a CSX (owners/operators of the Tri-Rail/Am-Trak rail corridor) system wide computer failure. The trains were all messed up in simple English . The news media isn't talking about this but this is what I have experienced in the last week.

Thank you for your time, Douane

Thanks Jose for the info!

The media doesn't talk about y2k failures because it is the truth... the truth is outlawed by the Clinton administration...but if you dare tell the truth ... 1 - you may die, because it makes the government look bad, or specific people in government look bad (i.e., Ron Brown, Foster, etc.)2 - The government will make you look foolish to the rest of the nation, because it will tell reasonably logical lies... (i.e., Monica Lewinski, Jones, etc.)3 - They have swallowed the lie and the truth is no more than the interpretation given by government or specific people in government...(i.e., partial birth abortions are a necessary evil to protect the woman's choice...anyway its not really a human being until it is fully born alive!)

Sadly enough, America has become like a third world country ... but not technologically, ... mentally!

good post. Any confirmations? The American West computer snafu made the papers; its newsworthy {!} if Amtrak's scheduling computer is suffering. There shouls be stories .....

I just booked on Amtrak yesterday--there didn't seem to be a problem with scheduling. I think Jose is saying that the computer messed up the trains per se. Very few Amtrak trains out of Miami a day (three), but the tri-rail is probably busier than that.

I'm back!

Actually I just called him on the phone to get more detail and confirmation from him. He said there was no problem with the trains, but that CSX, the company that owns the TRI-Rail (and Amtrack?) had their computer network down all day. He said it was posted on the monitor in the train.

Also, he flew to Phonix on America West and was shuffled between several cancelled flights. They told him that 200 flights had been cancelled due to computer problems.

The part about a Federal employee telling him that they were having major problems of course is hearsay. He did not find out which dept. of the Fed the guy worked for. I'll try to check on the VA hospital in West Palm Beach. Because all of this happened to him in one day, he was a little "shook-up."

This is not Y2K. It is simply a function of an astrological phenomenon known as Mercury Retrograde.

Four times a year, for two-and-half-weeks, all modes of communication, transportation, technology go on the fritz more than usual. I have seen it play out to form every time in the last two years since I have been aware.

LunaC-are you out there to elaborate??
