how much movie can fit on a VCD? how long?

1/2 hour? 1? 2?

please help. I am trying to figure if it will be worth it to start making VCDs.

True VCD compliant should allow you to put 74 minutes of video into a single CD-R/CD-RW. Compliant VCD standard has the following features video rate = 1150000bps GOP 15,3(IPB) 352x240 @ 29.97fps (NTSC)mpg1 video rate = 1120000bps GOP 15,3(IPB) 352x288 @ 25fps (PAL)mpg1 audio rate = 224000bps @ 44100Hz,16bits stereo, mpg1 layerII These settings will give you standard VHS quality to S-VHS video output, depends on the hardware and software you have available to you.
