I own a Minox 35 EL, number 3551953. contrary to your data it has ASA 25-800 (DIN 15-30) and a red shutter release button. From aquiring it, I have spent about $ 150.00 to have it restored to working order, to no avail. The shutter just won't work. Recently I bought a 'spare parts lens' for this camera and I hope to find someone to install the part. Could you tell me anything about the problems with this camera??? Greetings, Bart Peeren.

Hi I also have a Minox EL with a red release button and the 20-800 ASA range. The usual problem with the shutter is crap trapped behind the light barrier. The crap gets into the electrical contacts which trigger one or both of the solenoids that relaese the shutter mechanism. I must admit to never having had this problem on the cameras I have - EL, GL, ML and GT-E. A quick search on the net for "Minox shutter" should get you to a site where all is explained by Martin Tai who revels in Minox. Whilst you may be somewhat challenged by the problems the cameras do give incredible results. The trick to getting ultimate quality is to learn to hold the camera steady. Its light weight doesnt help there. A Minox mini tripod can help immensely (See ebay) Graham
