Clinton And The SPR

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Could the reason that Clinton doesn't want to dip into the SPR be that our own military is running out of fuel? If Britains navy is running out can we be far behind? I'm not sayiny this is happening, just food for thought.

David, you are such a stickler. Reminds me of someone else I know.

Her Majesty's Navy is running out of BUDGET not fuel.

Could be, or maybe Bill can`t afford to let go of any reserve because of a strong possiblity of a `big` military action [war?] coming down the pike in the not too distant future?....hmmmmm

Maybe he already promised it to the Chinese?

Maybe he already gave it to the Chinese?

There physically isn't enough in the strategic reserve to make anything but a "dent" in the commercial economy.

IT'S A STRATEGIC reserve - for emergency use in times of war after our overseas imports are cut completely off!

Get it through your heads that this is because we could lose (easily!) ALL imports if an enemy wanted to cut them off.

Great points , Robert ! Somehow , people seem to think this reserve is in barrels , tanks , etc. ready to be pumped and USED . I'll bet it doesn't get used , and then , by government AND military , IF we have a " national emergency ". Eagle
