I cannot seem to load my floppy disk into my computer which has Windows 98 . and plenty of space into the area that they suggest in the manual . They say to open my computer and load it into 3.5 inch FD A . My screen keeps telling me when I try that step that it is not ready even after my floppy has completed its task . Whats up with that? Please any help will be greatly appreciated.

This all sometimes depends on which Mavica you have. Anyway, try this. get a new floppy, put it into your a: drive and copy a text file or Word file to it. Access the floppy drive, and double click on that text document. If you are able to read it, delete the text document.

Now try this disk in your camera. Take a couple of pictures.

Put the floppy back in the a: drive and access it in my computer (or however you are most comfortable) Highlight everything, and drag it to your desktop. I have noticed that sometimes with my FD7, windows will tell me I cannot access a particular picture. My solution is to do the above.

Dear MJL -- When you say you are trying to "load it into 3.5 inch FD A" your message is a little unclear to me. It sounds as if you might be telling the computer that you are trying to copy the photos FROM the floppy TO another floppy in drive A and the computer is complaining that you have not put the destination floppy in the drive after it has finished reading from the source floppy.

I expect that what you had intended to do was to copy from the floppy to a folder on your HARD DRIVE, which is probably drive C: or D:

You can use the Windows Explorer to create some folders to organize your photos to make it easier to find them later. For example, you may wish to set up a folder called "Mavica Photos", and then subfolders within that either by subject (e.g."Thanksgiving 1999", "Sunsets", "Family") or by date (e.g. 2000-02-25). Then when you copy the photos from the floppy, you know where to put them.

Many people re-name the photos during the copy process, either using date and time of creation or event and sequence number to provide unique filenames. There are free programs that will do the renaming automatically for you and much more. Try Digipics at http://www.4digipics.com or DCCS at http://www.geocities.com/~dccsfreeware/
