Oly C2000 & Ringflash

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I have a c2000z and a pc sync ringflash (vivitar). I used the simultaneous "ok" button and down on the joypad trick, in aperature mode, to increase my shutter speeds once successfully, but it hasn't worked since. I can't get higher shutter speeds without leaving the internal flash on, which is a pain because the ringflash is not a slave. I can get around it by really jacking up the f stops, but the pictures turn out weird. Any ideas anybody? Is there something that I need to reset or something?

One *my* C2000Z:

UNDOCUMENTED FEATURES OF THE OLYMPUS C2000Z DIGITAL CAMERA

- Switch to shutter priority mode. - Slowest selectable shutter speed is 1/2 second. - Press "OK" plus the "down" button on the hat at the same time. - Speeds of 1,2,4,8 and 16 seconds are now useable.

- Switch to shutter priority mode. - Press "OK" plus the "take picture" button the same time. - Aperture now at F11. - Again, press "OK" plus the "take picture" button the same time. - Aperture lock now released.

- Switch to aperture priority mode. - Select "flash off" (ie, using external flash) and a small aperture. - Camera tries to use very long exposure times and causes bluring. - Press "OK" plus the "down" button on the hat at the same time. - Camera is now locked less than or equal to 1/30 second shutter speed. - Select "flash on". - Select "flash off". - Shutter speed lock is now released.
