SEWAGE FLOWS INTO ST. LOUIS RIVER

CLOQUET, Posted 5:00 p.m., Feb. 17, 2000 -- A major power failure caused 175,000 gallons of sewage to flow into the St. Louis River in Cloquet early Thursday morning.

The over-flow happened around 3:00 a.m., when a switch gear failed at Minnesota Power's Cloquet substation.

The state Pollution Control Agency was notified, but a spokesperson for the Western Lake Superior Sanitary District said long term environmental damage is not expected

Thanks, Dee!

I had to wade through the artery-clogging tinned pink spongemeat of LL to find this. I hope the Sysops will be doing a cleaning soon.

Excellent article; of course, not Y2K related, TPTB will say.

I wonder what's up with the Plasma Cloud headed our way? I also wonder if Y2K related problems will be blamed on "Solar Flares" and vice versa throughout the year? It will be interesting to see, especially in light of how an electromagnetic can affect piping.

Take care, and keep the good stuff coming!

Peace,

Don

This is for Rachel. (or someone else who might know)..could you please tell me what you meant, when you wrote "To the top."? I thought you meant go to the top of that article, or the home page, but it doesn't quite make sense to me.

Thank you!

Don, Thanks for your input. Should be interesting to see how it all plays out. What a year...whew!

Sharon, "to the top" is written when somebody wants the article to be put up to the top of the "new answers" list. =)

No further reporting on the cause of the "major power outage"? What's a switch gear?

Would like to get more input about this too, Squirrel.
