how is spot metering done, hae an Oly D400Z

I have an Oly D400Z and sometimes the pictures come out a little dark. The manual ::joke:: talks about spot metering, what is it and how it is done ?

Bob, you have to read the left side of the manual. ;o) Kidding aside, I also have the D400z, so if you go to the second menu in record mode, and with the  and + buttons move the arrow to the right symbol [o]. This enables spot metering. If your picture is dark you can set the EV value + = to 2. Try it and check the results. This is on the first menu in record mode, just use the + and - buttons. Remember to push the OK button after you make any change. See the links below for exposure and spot metering. They can explain it better than I can.
