How Big Is the Lie?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Please excuse my previous post. I inadvertantly submited it>

Let's look at the big picture: After a few days into the new year, the President's man, Mr. Koskinen, announced that there was no compelling reason to continue y2k problem updates. Of course, they concealed the truth concerning the critical security satellite problem. We wouldn't want our national security compromised.

Perhaps that failure was the catalyst for shuttting down the government's 40 million dollar spin machine. I'm certain that the spin-masters expected us to interpret The moth balling of such an expensive enterprise as a clear statement that the "minor glitches" don't warrant on-going reporting. So, we should forget about y2k too and get on with our business.

We know that lies were told, my question tonight is: "how big is the lie?" If we can step away from the minutia of information and take a mental stroll up the hill, we will see a strange scene before us indeed. How big is the lie?

What's the truth about these sudden crazy fuel prices, aircraft failures, municipal infrastructure failures, power outages around the globe, etc., etc. etc.

I get the feeling that somebody wants to guide our inquiring minds away from the real stories. When I read the postings to this forum, I sometimes feel as though many of us are chasing our tails.

There are real reasons for lies. There is a truth. Let's step up higher, take a deep breath and open our eyes.

LOL, my answer would be "bigger than the truth".

I was so disgusted tonight watching an interview with Cokie Roberts and her husband. Cokie was saying about the candidates that they are all nice guys.

Whatever else you might say about them, you could not interpret their backgrounds as impressively in re ethics or statesmanlike behavior. Talk about blatant reinvention of the truth. Someone like Ms. Roberts would not know the truth if it bit her on the toe.

Does this relate to the topic of this post. Yes. Lies abound.

Yes, the press 'owns' the truth and TPTB own Clintigula and the press.

There have been plenty of links to sites comparing refinery problems in previous years to the present. There is a sudden decision of Saudia Arabia to cut oil to the USA and Europe in March. Nobody wants to use the nasty little word "embeddeds". They could take months to fix, months. Our refineries here are not running at capacity, and some need to go down for maintenance. Gas this summer might be a nightmare.

You have to understand that Clinton wants to be remembered with a legacy of presiding over a great economy( never mind it is really the legacy of Bush and Reagan), even going so far as to restructure our long term debt so it'll come due after he leaves office, giving the appearance of a surplus which is temporary. When that debt comes due in two years, it's unpayable, as is the interest ( well, unless we sell off all our park lands, and maybe the citizens as slaves too....we'll see what tricks Alan G comes up with.)

The word "Y2K" can not be uttered. Nothing can threaten the stock market. Clinton must leave office with the illusion of prosperity firmly entrenched. He must leave in a glowing halo of economic glory.

It'll be interesting to see what the Lord does. I think his mercy has been holding back judgement because so many folks will suffer when the crash comes. But He may see to it that BC leaves in utter disgrace. The people of this nation chose prosperity as their god during the impeachment hearings, all that matters is money in the face of lies and obstruction of justice. We deserve, as a nation, ruin.

Satan is a liar, and the father of lies. If you want to fight it, the only way is on the Lord's side. Pray for His mercy on us all.

Isn't it interesting to see the boldness of these "journalists." They put up the big fancy stages, write obnoxious scripts, throw the light switch and put on these world class performances.

Do we have time for these dog and pony shows? I surmise that our nation, and the world, is facing excruciatingly painful days. These are serious times that require our best. We need the best leaders.

Yes, when we take a real, unfiltered look, we cannot help but recognize hypocrisy everywhere. And, there, on the horizon, I see a storm brewing. I don't thingk it's a three dayer either.

Encourage somebody...anybody.

Our refineries here are not running at capacity, and some need to go down for maintenance.

Maintenance is understandable..but...indeed..some even had "unplanned" maintenance....whatever THAT is....

And the Saudi's and Venezuela are both saying to the effect, "we don;t mind staying with the production cuts"....hahahahhaa....is it because they won't admit to having embedded/computer problems, or are they just all "getting along"? Interesting scenarios coming up!

The lie is only as BIG as the people's willingness to believe it.

-- INever (INevercheckmy@onebox.com), February 20, 2000.

I think the government is terrified of y2k effects. They could mention something minor but annoying on the evening news like a DMV somewhere going down for a couple of hours. Nope, they want complete and total black out on the topic. To me this means the y2k glitch situation is worse than we can possibly know right now.

LOL w/ Hokie. Actually, there's a lot of truth in the lies told. Nothing so deceptive as a slightly twisted version of the truth, and this has been the specialty of those who made government or politics their religion: i.e., a belief system which puts its faith in the ability of laws & their enforcement to make changes.

What we're seeing now is the reality of self-government via the internet & technology, and an attempt to manipulate the way people govern themselves by giving them an idea that they are in the know. That is the gnostic approach: knowledge is power. However, it is not the truth: the truth is having the Love of God within your heart, and acting accordingly! Right is right, wrong is wrong, and ne'er shall the twain meet. You stand on the principles of righteousness, not on the temporary and relative data stream. But we are capable of converting the flow of information into something useful as one who is self-governed (a citizen of the Kingdom of God, not of any country).

It will be really interesting about July when gas is over $3 per gallon when you can find it, when trucking strikes over fuel prices are increasing, when airplanes are continuing to crash, when the DOW has dropped at least 3000 points and the elections are getting close. What will happen? Will the public get fed up and throw out all of the people up for REELECTION including ALGORE? We should be so lucky. How much of the mainstream media will have any credibility left? The major media will be a laughingstock when the people finally wake up, and advertising revenues will decline drastically. I would guess that the fuel price increases will result in a more noticable increase in INFLATION that the gobmit will no longer be able to hide, the stock market will decline substantially, the microsoft bubble will be exposed for the fraud that it is and both major parties will be in big trouble. The trade deficit will increase dramatically, there will be a serious lack of rainfall in the midwest, more farmers will go bankrupt and food prices will increase dramatically. The economy will be in a shambles by November. Will the election be rigged? Who knows. What other crisis will occurr to divert attention from the problems in the economy. We live in interesting times.

Down th Road a Piece...Yep,the religeous Freaks will be rampaging ,most of the Wall Street Paper will by then be converted into Greenbacks in the Pockets of the guilty, responsible for the upcoming Problems. We will find, that most of the embedded chips are imbedded on the SHOULDERS of Saudi Arabia and Venezuela, not their Computers.Caught or suspected Hackers(it won't matter, which)will get 10 Years,Echelon will keep on hacking, they will get Raise and an Attaboy. The Fine for Jaywalking will go up 300%.You will be able to "taste"Monsanto in Your Food. The Hordes will continue to come north, adding to the Problem.Television will continue to promote Racsism,by showing white Females with black Men.Soon every Race will be exposed to Sickle Cell Anemia. How big is a Lie?One should ask:What is NOT a Lie?

The media played Y2K like they play Christmas.

No matter HOW big the build-up, when it's over, it's OVER: O-V-E-R full stop/next topic/let's move on.

It's been December 26th since January 1st.

didn't hitler says something to the effect that the people will figure out a small lie,so the bigger the lie the easier it is for people to be fooled!
