How to store digital camera pictures?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

How are digital pictures printed so that we can put them in a photo album? We are going on a trip and cannot decide if to use a digital camera or to use a regular film loaded camera.

It sounds like your digital camera is new to you. If you don't have a lot of time I'd really recommend you take the film camera... Not because of the prints - but just for the familiarity. There's nothing worse then losing pictures from a wonderful trip.
Now for prints. You have lots of wonderful options. Check out:

OFOTO

for making prints. They do a nice job (as do several other companies like them). I have personally tried them and the results from my modest resolution camera (Sony FD-91) are spectacular.

One thing to watch out for on digital camera prints. Longevity. With 35mm film, you Know that the pictures will last a long time without fading. Using your own digital camera and printer will print with great results(depending on the camera and printer of coarse), but they can fade over time quicker than with 35mm prints.

If you are going to use a digital camera, I think FotoAlbum from http://www.fototime.com would be helpful. FotoAlbum is a PC client program that allows you to download photos off of your digital camera (right now it only supports digital cameras) and organize your photos into albums. You can then upload the photos to your own private account at fototime.com. Once the photos are uploaded, you can order prints of your photos and invite others to view them.

I download my digial pictures to VHS tape and view as a slide show.Useing the cables that came with my C-2500-l, I can download right from the camera into the VCR.
