Which of Poe's poems would be best to analyse?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : The Work of Edgar Allan Poe : One Thread

For english class we have to do a Poetry assignment on any poet and analyse 3 of their poems which have a similar theme or link. My problem is choosing three of Poe's poems to analyse. Could anyone suggest to me which three would be good to use for an assignment like this and why?

Thank you

The three poems I would chose would be "Alone," "A Dream Within a Dream," and "Annabel Lee." My first reason for choosing these is very biased, these are among my favorites. Secondly, all of these poems should be fairly easy to obtain. All the poems deal with Edgar's life, Alone is almost a biography dictating how he didn't fit in, Dream Within a Dream characterizes Edgar's losses of his loved one's and other losses in life, and Annabel Lee shows how powerful a love that he had for those that he did love.

"The Raven", "To Science" and "The Conqueror Worm" I'd say if I decided on the basis of my favorite Poe poems because the first because it is his most famous, the second two because of the imagery within and their compactness--

Since this is for english class, you better play it safe and do "The Raven", "Annabel Lee" and "The Bells", because they are probably his best known and English teachers, at least the ones I had save for a one or two, don't know poetry from shinola and will probably consult a lesson plan which will have those three and a couple others on it-- Besides the fact that they are good poems.
