I Think I Just Got Censored at BIFFY

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I did one of my usual well mannered posts at Biffy about half an hour ago, and it seems to have vanished. I was very careful to watch for the message saying I had posted sucessfully, and I got it. But it semms to have vanished. Who'se covering up?

Whats Biffy?

Now would not be a good time to repost it there about 800 times, with the header text typed in all caps containing the words "I'M BEING CENSORED", or other words/phrases that you wouldn't want a child to hear...

-- Tim (pixmo@pixelquest.com), February 19, 2000.

To Tim: I know they just got spammed, and I don't approve of that, but mine was just a regular, well-thought-out post IMHO.

Suzy,

Biffy is the "Gary North is a Big Fat Idiot" forum. Kinda like the Debonkers forum but with more venom and less intelligence. I'm sorry, but I lost the link awhile ago when my finger accidently hit the delete key ;-)

Maybe someone else can help you with that.

PE,

Sometimes their server is a somewhat slow... All of mine have gone thru without a hitch :-)

I wasn't implying that you would or that you should, Peter.

My 2 cents:

Spamming boards just raises peope's ires and doesn't do much good.

If you don't like a board, at least be courteous and abide by the golden rule. Let them be, DON'T ANTAGONIZE and DON'T GO BACK. This applies to TB2000, Biffy, or any other board.

Common sense 101, plain and simple.

Just went over there to take a look at it. What a hoot!

-- suzy (suzy@nowhere.com), February 19, 2000.

I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I have been there a few times. It is like an AOL chatroom on steroids. No substance at all. It is an anomaly. Usually flames need something to feed on.

After so many answers to a post, you will just see the number of answers posted. Your post is there, you will have to go to a post up from yours to access your post.

-- Cherri (sams@brigadoon.com), February 19, 2000.

If you've done much sailing, you know what a biffy is.

Best wishes,,,,

Well, I took the time to see your "usual well-mannered post" at Biffy, Peter, using the link provided below. Had I written such a "well-mannered" post myself, I would have expected it to be deleted. It was not, nor do I consider it "well-mannered."

Helen, you're right, he's wrong Forum: Gary North is a Big Fat Idiot Forum Re: The irony of "DGI" (Ken Decker) Re: Why? (helen) Re: In response to all three messages... (helen) Re: Nonsense, Bull and a dozen other names for your "position" (cpr) Date: Feb 18, 18:52 From: Peter Errington

This meme-addled fucker can't even do simple arithmetic. -----------------------------------------------------------------

If this was NOT the "usual well mannered post" to which you refer, Peter, I can't say I'd have any interest in copy/pasting the next.

-- Anita (notgiving@anymore.thingee), February 19, 2000.

It's all a conspiracy, Peter. Why don't you open your eyes, I'm sure it is there. There is no reason to censor your dribble. or anyone elses messages for that matter.

-- CJS (cjs@noemail.com), February 19, 2000.

Peter, you appear to be a very self-centered loner looking for some attention. I too went to the Biffy site for the first time and you were hardly well mannered. In addition, you kept whining over and over about your post not appearing as if you were someone important or something. After this incident I will no longer pay any attention to what you say. If you need an ego boost try getting a job. Also, based on the way you were torn to shreds over there you should refrain from making another appearance. Unless, of course, you are a latent masochist.

I can't believe that the Biffy board is even allowed on the internet. Hundreds (well maybe about 12 or 13) of little Lady Logic Wanabees running all over the internet censoring the fine logic and argumentation of the Peter Errington's of the world.

-- zooper (scared@of.spam), February 19, 2000.

Millions of posts by this CPR fellow. OK the C stands for Capslock Key but what does the P and the R stand for?

-- zooper (scared@of.spam), February 19, 2000.

Where is the news media to report this? why is not CNN, ABC, PBS, PAX, NBC, UPN, ESPN, WB, and the Nashville Network reporting that Peter Errington has been censored at BIFFY?

-- Butt Nugget (catsbutt@umailme.com), February 19, 2000.

Just dropped in over there. LOL!! The animation alone was worth the price of admission!!

Responding to these replies in no particular order:

Anita, I value your good opinion, but I am the way I am. I said what I did because he had subjected a nice person (Helen) to mercilous bullying.

Cherri, I know how it works over there, but I was not adding on to anyone else's post.

To all the people who thought I was whining, you haven't much of an ear for the tone of written English. I did this post because I thought the situation was funny. The reason I thought it was funny was because of all the pissing and moaning they do about our supposedly terrible censorship.

To Z1X4Y7: Having grown up in the upper Midwest, I'm well aware of what a biffy is.

But now the question everyone has been waiting for with bated breath ( :-D for the humor impaired) : Did my post ever go up? The answer is no, and I do know how to post over there. I had to redo it, so my original question remains - Who's Covering Up?

-- Peter Errington (petere@ricochet.net), February 20, 2000.

What really kills me is that creeper has been getting off on how big companies will be sueing consultants and Y2k IT pro's over the cost of their services, and yet, he also says the cost of it all was trivial, over the 3 to 5 year % of IT budgets... personaly, I think he needs to his head retorqued :-)
