What is are they going to do with Carter

greenspun.com : LUSENET : ER Discussions : One Thread

Since Carter has some major recovery to go through will he be absent from the show for a few weeks? I can see him in next week's show going through guilt and all that, but after that? I hope they keep him involved somehow... By the way, this episode ranks #1 with me. #2 has to be when Susan was leaving for Arizona and Mark tried to stop her by telling her he loved her.

You know, I'd like to see Carter doing his recovery at his parents or grandparents place, and getting to see his family in the picture, have him go through guilt and whatnot, but also maybe see his family (unsucessfully of course) try and convince him again to give up medicine and join the family business. I'd like to know about Caters background a bit more, but that's just me. I hope we see w whole lot of Carter in upcoming episodes!

I ALSO THINK THAT CARTER SHOULD FEEL GUILTY BECAUSE HE DID NOT BACK LUCY UP AND THAT IS PART OF HIS JOB. I ALSO THINK HE WILL ASK HIMSELF WHAT IF THEY WOULD HAVE GOTTEN TOGETHER AND IF HE WAS NOT SO TOUGH ON HER. I THINK THEY SHOULD HAVE KEPT HER ALIVE FOR JUST A LITTLE WHILE SO HE WOULD HAVE TO VISIT HER AND SEE WHAT WAS 80% HIS FAULT.

Hey Lisa, QUIT TYPING IN ALL CAPS, do you see how annoying it is???? Yes Carter was kind of rude to Lucy, but she was a what 3rd or 4th year med student, she was not a total beginner she should have had an idea how to get things done on her own and known that she needed to be more agressive to get things done. Also he had many many other patients and had to watch over Abby(who knows less than lucy did about the ER) also Mark was to be suprevision Carter so he is to blame in a way, and everyone who had the music up so loud, whoever left the knife out ect.. etc.... BUt when you get down to it, it is everyones fault and no ones.

ER has a way of elapsing time... Remember Carol was out of the hospital 1 episode after she had the twins. Television is not real time. I am sure that next week Carter will be shown in a hospital bed albeit briefly.

Then (after a few reruns) he will return to work... moving a little slower and with a heavier heart. But hey... that life in TV land.

about the previous comment- ER keeps relatively consistent with time lapses...most epi's take place about 1 wk after the last, unless (as in last epi) they pick up exactly where left off. Carter may spend a week or more in hospital recovering, and go home next epi, or the one after... and one nitpicky little thing (sorry), to my knowledge, most women go home within three days of giving birth, even after a c-section, unless there are serious complications, so i don't think that was unrealistic ( I said it was nitpicky :))

Ivy... I think you misread my posting. To be clear, I meant Carol was at home for 1 epi (not sure how long she was in the hospital). That was the one that she was cooking something special for Xmas. Then she returned to the "the hospital" in Janury, so her maternity leave was 6-8 weeks. She was not off the show 6-8 episodes.
