I would like any reviews and user comments on the Canon FS2710 film scanner, not the specifications which I have. Thanks

I have recently bought the FS2710 scanner and am very impressed. It was easy to set up and install the only problem I had was when I upgraded to Windows 98 a few weeks later. Reinstalling the drivers fixed this.

Scan quality is better than I hoped for! Scans show more detail better colours than prints I have done from the negatives at some reputable laboritories! The colours are accurate on the monitor with the colour correction facility and controls are as simple or advanced as you like.

I had considered some of the Nikon scanners with the ICE technology bit found on a friends scanner that this does spoil some of the finer details in an image. Corel Photopaint and many other programmes have facilities to remove dust anyway.

The scanner itself has a flap to cover the front when not un use - I was surprised that many others didn't, as a small spec of dust soon becomes a football once scanned!

(Second best buy was a compressed air can from a high street photographers - brilliant for removing any dust/dirt from negatives.)

Lastly, I bought my scanner from Insight for #399 plus Vat and received it in a few days normal service. Black Widow also do a very good deal if you are comparing prices.

I found FS 2710 drivers for XP at http://www.canon.com.au/support/customer/default.asp? DXI=KnowledgeBase/Customer/KBArticleForm&File=KB00191

Hope this helps, best of luck to all... Funny, Techs at Canon didn't know about this one. Maybe if they did a little research and checked out GOOGLE like I did they might earn what there paid.. Probably Not...
