What does P.E. mean?

I don't ever recall hearing this term used. Lucy obvious knew that it wasn't a good sign. She looked so terrified when she asked if that was what it was.

P.E. stands for Pulmonary Embolism...or a clot in the lung.

It stands for "pulmonary embolism", I believe. Basically, a life-endangering blood clot in your chest.

PE is medspeak for pulmonary embolism. Lucy most likey afflicted with this due to her major trauma and surgery. The clots were likely broken loose from another area in her body...when they break loose they travel through the body to the lungs where...well, you saw what happens.
