This is about as random as it gets, but you did ask for funny stories. I'll deliver.
I went to a street festival in Ybor City (Tampa's version of the French Quarter -- and it is pronounced Ee-bore --) last weekend. I brought my camera, as I had to finish up a roll of film for an assignment.
Ybor is going through a lot of changes, lately - construction of a new mini-mall and a movie theater, among other things. Two particularly large buildings-in-process are across the street from each other. For almost an entire block, the street itself is littered with construction debris and so covered in dirt that you can't see any kind of pavement at all.
Nobody was going down that 'street,' although there was no reason NOT to: the sites were clearly defined, and as long as you stayed between the border fences, you were being perfectly legal.
I was heading somewhere, and decided to take a shortcut through there, and get some good pictures along the way. The place was perfectly empty.
Halfway through, I looked back and noticed that there were people following along behind me. Lots of people. All kinds of happy tourists -- who can only take a perfectly obvious shortcut once someone else goes through it.
I felt like such a leader. Now, back to the real world. Sigh.

I just read back over that. I used "perfectly" three times in one tiny story. I must be more tired than I thought.

I was happy to see that my puppy had not pooped in her cage. She's learning!

I was glad that I went ahead and watched Stir of Echos even though I had heard it was crap. I liked it just fine.

I am so happy that tomorrow is Friday. If only I could find a good reason to play hooky from work.

I'll be happy when Pamie is happy again.

Lisa, I tried to watch Stir of Echoes and I just couldn't get into it. There's something about Kevin Bacon that makes me ill. I think it's his eyes and the fact that his name was Ren in Footloose.

Hmmm.. what am I happy about? I'm happy that I have a really comfortable ARMY shirt on. I'm happy I designed a background for my friend that she actually liked. I'm happy that it's 11:38 p.m. and I can still get eight and a half more hours worth of sleep. I'm happy it's almost FRIDAY! I'm happy that there is Stove Top in the cupboard for once.

Funny stories? I usually have so many. I can't really think of any right off the top of my head. I guess I'll leave you with a quote...

"One day, I'll be able to look back on all this and roll my eyes." -me

To use the classic athlete quote, "I'm just happy to be here."

I'm also happy I found this page (http://members.tripod.com/~Black_Starla/mst3k.html) of Mystery Science Theater 3000 quotes, which are guarenteed to make anyone happy for at least a short time.

Pamie, here's hoping you're happy again soon.

I am really happy it is friday.

I am happy because tomorrow night my husband and I get to take advantage of a 75 dollar gift certificate my boss gave me, "just because he appreciates me". It is to a really nice steak house (my favorite) that just opened in our city. You know I am going to have a big fat filet! And I am going to drink myself silly and for the first time in a long time not worry about how much the bill is going to be.

I am happy that finally finally finally MAC makeup has come to North Carolina, and I won't have to wait to shop for it when I go home or have my mom send it to me anymore!!!!

Yes, I am a total girly girl.

I am happy I have only had to clean up puppy pee a few times this week! Go Oliver!

I am happy that in one week I get to go home to visit my family in California.

I am happy the radiation is reducing the size of my grandpa's tumor.

I am happy I get to see my mom on her birthday.

I am really happy I love my new haircut.

I am happy things are looking up at home.

I am happy that I have all of you fine people to entertain me every work day! I am happy that I found Squishy and Pamie in the first place.

Wow, I am pretty happy today.

I saw Stir of Echoes two nights ago! There must be something in the air. And I thought it was good. What made me happier, though, was Drop Dead Gorgeous. That was a funny movie. My current favorite quote is from Paula Poundstone "I'm bulimic, I just keep forgetting to purge"

My ex-boyfriend slappyjack (Pamie's proported Luke/Leah twin, at one time) shared this with me when we first started seeing each other, and I think it fits here...

DESIDERATA

Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and ignorant; they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexatious to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

Keep interested in your own career, however be humble; it is a real possession in the changing of fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe, no less then the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you may conceive him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.

With all it's sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy.
