How to play VCD on my PC using MediaPlayer 6.0....

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I am trying to playing a VCD disc on my PC (CD-ROM)by using microsoft's MediaPlayer 6.0 (as suggested by this board). My first problem is:

1.There are several folds (such as Cdda, Cdi, Karaoke, Mpegav, etc.)on the CD-ROM drive and I don't know which one is the correct one.

2.When I tried to player it, it keep telling me:

Cannot open 'D:\VCD\ENTRIES.VCD'. Please verify that the path and filename are correct and try again.

Suggestion: Check the web site or content source for information about playing this content

Please someone help me what I am doing wrong.

Thanks in advance.

The ?????.dat files in the Mpegav folder are what you need to play.

Media Player will not play them at the correct aspect ratio but so long as you like fat ladies looking thinner and things distorted/compressed horizontally then I guess its fine.

Sorry got the compression the wrong way around for NTSC - fat ladies will be reall fat because of the expansion in NTSC. Its compression for PAL.

Hmmm...interesting...never noticed that before...anyway..there are so many vcd player softwares around why play it with mplayer??? If you have a capture card or software to make vcd..chances are that it comes with a vcd player...

Try this , 1. Click at the MPegav. 2. Shows all files 3. then click the *.dat file Enjoy viewing.
