To the Pollies of the World: Can You Get Past the Finger-Pointing?

It seems as if nearly every thread on this forum has an undercurrent of blame being bandied about. Because the century date change passed with a lack of widespread chaos, the pollies are predictably in a "gloating mode." Their clairvoyance and vast wisdom saved them the trouble, apprehension, and expense of awaiting a doomsday that would never occur. How the pollies love to proclaim we were "wrong." (Ouch! Being wrong makes me feel really bad). We are easy targets, too, especially since we don't know anything. After all, we were "wrong" about Y2K.

This being said, the time has come to end this silly finger-pointing. Pollies, be nice! The time to rub our noses in our error has passed. After all, we GI's are only to be pitied, and it is not polite to mock the weak-minded. We were mentally held captive and led astray by Gary North and his ilk, as their propaganda forced us to examine our lives and discover ways of becoming more self-sufficient and aware of our world.

Yes, we are now only to be pitied, oh wise ones. Now that Y2K is over I have nothing to do, I have no life. Life would have absolutely no meaning or purpose if I didn't have this forum to pretend that Y2K is a big problem. Pity me. I am terrified to live in a world that functions normally. Pity me. I lie awake at night, plagued by questions such as what I am going to do with all this rice, beans, chili, SPAM, toilet paper, gasoline, propane, toothpaste, batteries, etc., etc.? To what use will I put the things I have purchased and the skills I have developed?

Every dog has its day, and you are having yours. GI's, this is a call to arms! The time has come to rally around the leading pollies of this forum, and beg them to lead us, teach us, and to be beacons of truth in this dark world. I just hope they quit telling me I am wrong. That hurts too much.

PS: Hint: this post contains a grain of sarcasm

Bitterness is a choice.

Some people can't get on with their lives. As bitterness truly is a choice, so is being an a**hole and trying to rub it in. I congratulated CPR and Debunky on being much closer to what actually happened than others had been. I'm glad they were right.

Bottom line: There are some on both sides who don't have lives and if it weren't being right/wrong on this issue, then it would be some other issue. Plain and simple. Like Y2k pro, who, like a handful of Y2k wackos, just can't let go of things. They are to be pitied. Thankfully, most on these boards are good folks who have something interesting to bring to these discussions Y2k and non-Y2k, even if you don't agree with them.

I'm so Lame,

That was sooooooo helpful. It brought back the rhyme I learned in grammar school, "sticks and stones..." I'll have to remember that!

Actually, bitters is what I put in Manhattens, along with burbon and vermooth.

Hey No Polly:

You provoked y2k wannabe pro to post a rebuttal thread. :) Told ya pro didn't have a life.

-- haha (, February 17, 2000.

Y2K (wannabe) Pro is one of the heros referred to in my last paragraph. I wonder why he'd want to post a rebuttal?

-- No Polly (, February 17, 2000.

rebuttal=using xerox machine as a butt warmer.

Don't touch those Xerox *carbon* copies!
