OT -- Bellingham, WA Pipeline Returns to Haunt Us -- NW spot gas prices spike higher

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Remember that pipeline explosion in Bellingham, WA that killed 3 kids last summer? The Olympic Pipelines Ferndale Line?

That pipeline strikes again. Seems it also carried crude oil from Alaska, used by Texaco and Arco on the West Coast. According to sources (which must remain unnamed because OPIS is yelling about copyright infringment if we just post their alerts), the Arco refinery at Cherry Point has cut crude runs by from 25-30% because they cant keep up with the raw crude needed. No word on Texaco.

Arco and Texaco have been have been barging or trucking product since the incident. Olympic hopes to get the pipeline going again sometime in March.

This unnamed source (wink) claims that the Northwest spot prices climbed sharply today. Guess you people in that area will see retail gas price hikes in two to three weeks.
