Hanoi, 16th February: Adverse weather conditions in theoff-shore oil field of Bach Ho in early February have broken a pillar of the Ba Vi oil station off Ba Ria-Vung Tau southern province, consequently causing a drop in oil and gas production.
The Vietnam-Russia petroleum joint venture company(Vietsovpetro) has reduced by half its daily output of crude oiland gas pumped out from the oil field to 15,000 tonnes of crudeoil and 2.2-2.3m cu.m. of gas. Most of the gas output has beensupplied to the Ba Ria and Phu My power plants in the province, leaving only 10 per cent to the gas trading companies. Thissituation has caused a shortage of liquefied gas supply forcooking.
