About auto-focus in manual mode of CP950

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

Dear all,

I ran into a problem with my Nikon CP950, which I didn't know when it started.

I've upgraded my firmware from 1.1 to 1.2 with no problem, and in MANUAL mode, the motor(is that how you call it?) does not actually focus 'till I press the shutter half down, which saves a lot of battery power.

Then one day, I'm not sure when it happened or what I did to make it happen, it became the same as AUTO mode, that is, it focuses aruond whenever I move the camera, I've checked each and every settings I can find in the menu, but with no luck.

Just half an hour ago, I've upgraded from 1.2 to 1.3, and again without any problems, but the 'auto focus' still persist.

It's quite anoying and is eating up my battery power when not necessary, any help or suggestions, would be greatly appreciated..

Sincerely, yours Tony Ko

Tony, This is controlled in the setup menu. Turn the camera to M-REC mode. With the LCD monitor turned on, press the menu button. Scan down the list to the second page of options to SETUP at the bottom of the list. Select it. On the setup options you will see LCD ON/OFF. Select that. You will find the option ON&S-AF (LCD ON, SINGLE FOCUS), select that one. I'll guess that you have ON&C-AF selected now. Some of these options are mysteriously changed when software upgrades are done. It can drive you nuts.
