SMT: (Solar Max Topic): Anyone know of SW sources of current solar events?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Does anyone here know of SW (short-wave) sources of current information on solar weather, events, and so on?

My situation is that there are times of the day (and night) when the net isn't very accessible. That leaves national radio and TV media, and the NWS weather radios. None of which I would expect to let us know of what's coming in much of a timely matter.

Usually, when the net's not accessible, I can periodically check on SW, thus my question.

It's not so much the level 5 storms and CME's therefrom that I am thinking about, but the much stronger events and the massive CME's than can reach here within a very few hours or less.

Heck, if I knew we were going to get whomped on bigtime, I might even drop me and mine off the grid for a few hours rather than risk low voltage and surges out the kazoo!

Thanks in advance, all!

Redeye:

WWV , the National Bureau of Standards time station, usually carries solar activity alerts at (I think) 5 and 25 minutes past the hour. They are on 2.500, 5.000, 10.000, 15.000, and 20.000 MHz.
