What about Carter's family?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : ER Discussions : One Thread

I'm just wondering, what do we all know about Carters family and background? I remember he had a brother, don't know his name, or what the age difference was, but I know he died of Lukemia, I think, and didn't Carter donate bone marrow? I also heard someone say he has a sister in Switzerland, I don't remember him ever mentioning that myself, but I guess it's possible. And what about his parents. Where are they? Will they turn up Thursday, or ever for that matter. Same with his Grandparents. Has he made peace with them yet? I know that they wanted him to take over the family business and give up his little 'medicine phase'. Also, he decided to move out of Kerry's basement right? Well, where did he end up going? And is he still hell bent on making it on his own minus his trust fund? I missed all these things along the way, or they were never addresses in the episodes. Can anyone shed light on this for me, or even speculate? And gee, have I asked enough questions? LOL! Anyhow, I was just wondering, it's kind of interesting to know about the characters backgrounds and families. It was nice to see Elizabeth's mother. And there never has been a mention of Lucy's background or family either has there? Interesting. I'm just babbling on making conversation in hopes to speed up Thursday nights arrival! Is it working! Talk to you all soon! Thanks for anyone who has answers!

Maybe I am just not rememebering right, but didn't Lucy's dad split when she was really little and didn't she and Carter (?) go out looking for him a season or so ago when she was looking for her something like 1 in 50,000 perfect blood donor? That would make all of that blood that she is losing even more precious. I don't remember exactly, but I do remember a plot something like that. That could throw a few curves into saving her if she has a rare blood type.

I'm pretty sure the episode you are talking about is "The Good Fight" where Lucy reveals to Carter that she was raised by her single mother and that she never knew her father. The two were out looking for a little girl's father that was critically ill in the ER.

Sorry to take up more space..I have to correct what I just submitted. The little girl was critically ill in the ER and Carter and Lucy were out looking for her father who was the only one who could provide a blood match. Sorry I could not help with all your questions about Carter, I'm sure someone else will! :)

As you know Carter's family is extremly rich "blue blood". His parents travel a lot, and there was an episode where Carter's was talking to his dad who was on a boat. Carter's brother died when he was 9 years old and he did donate blood. His grandparents never made up w/ him, but we've seen his "Gamma" and his cousin Chase in the ER a few times. I don't believe we've seen them since the 4th season though.

I don't believe we have seen them since the 4th Season, though I would like to. I thought his grandmother was a great character, especially when she gave Carol the money for the clinic.

It seems like I remember Carter talking on the phone to his dad last season. It was when he was working as a dorm monitor at Lucy's college. His dad was on his boat and he didn't seem to understand why Carter wanted to continue living like he is. I do hope that someone shows up to check on him and Lucy!

I guess it just goes to show money can't buy happiness, huh? First one grandson dies of lukemia, a second winds up severely brain damaged, and a third gets stabbed nearly to death (?) by a psycho.

Surely "Gamma" will show up for this crisis. She and Carter may have had their differences, but there is no doubt she loves him. And the family has suffered a lot already. This may be what brings them back together. Can't wait till tomorrow night!!!

I think Carter and his family had a final falling out when his cousin Chase OD'd on heroin. The were angry that he didn't tell the family about the problem so they could help. Chase ended up living but suffereing major brain damage and last we saw him he was living in a nursing home.

Kerry asked him to move out when she was made Chief of the ER. She thought it would be inappropriate for him to live there now that she was in charge.
