Very Lo-Tec Question: Can you protect the LCD?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

Here's a pretty lo-tec question: just got an Olympus D450 and I would like to keep the LCD screen from getting all scratched up over the next months and years. Does anyone have suggestions about clear plastics or films that could be placed over the LCD to help keep down the wear and tear?

I know that the LCD actually sits under a cover already, but if that cover eventually gets 'cloudy' it will make viewing more difficult. What I had in mind was a material similar to what covers the face of a wristwatch when new; I know that for PDA's like the PalmPilot there are a number of aftermarket 'films' that can be placed on the screen to reduce wear.

Any thoughts?

TIA, Jon

Typically these items are made for the Mavica - but you might want to check the measurements to see if they will work with your camera.
Go to da Protector and look at what they have to offer.
I have one on the back of my Sony FD-91 and it's saved the LCD more than once!
