SYSOPS: THE MSG THREAD MAY HAVE BEEN HACKED!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I have repeatedly attempted to read the thread about MSG at: http://hv.greenspun.com/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg.tcl?msg_id=002Yrj Each time it first went to the thread and then switched me to an error page telling me that there was a web error and telling me to click on a button to report the error.

I work in computer security so this seemed suspicious to me. SO I disabled javascript and java in my browser, and then tried to click on the MSG thread. I worked fine, I could read everything, no problem. I suspect there's some javascript or java embedded in the thread.

Next I reenabled javascript, and the problem recurred. The reader is forced to go to: http://a372.g.a.yimg.com/f/372/27/1d/www.geocities.com/js_source/ ygIELib5.js The following message is displayed:

"An error has occurred. Please help us to solve the problem by clicking the button below.

Thank you for your patience.

If you would like more information or assistance, please send mail to ."

SYSOPS- Please check it out.

I didn't see any problem, I saw it.

The problem is with the original MSG thread, not the updated one that's below my post.

Do you have javascript enabled? With javascript disabled, it works fine. With javascript enabled, I'm forced to this "web error reporting" webpage.

You're right. There is definately something wrong with the original thread.

I just came back to check the replies to the MSG thread, and got this wierd error. I have never seen such an error ever before on this list about anything. Can this be fixed? I really want to read what everyone has to say.

BTW: MSG is very very bad for me. Each time I eat some, I spend the next whole day in bed with a very bad migraine, wishing I was dead. It is a harmless flavor enhancer for some, but for many americans it is harmful and for some, fatal. It should be pulled off the market in my opinion.

OK I reposted the original post so that others could still read it.

I did not repost all the replies, if you would like to read these, go to Edit, Preferences, Advanced, and disable java and javascript, then you can read, just like slza said.

Thread fixed. Just a very messy html post. Nothing to worry about.
