Solari's book, Arcologies is a fun read as is Matter Becoming Spirit.

Structures like these, heavily biologicalized, may make it possible for us to support 10 billion humans and still have a planetary ecology left. To the extent that they contain matter and energy, recycle it extensively and detoxify it before injecting it back into the envirnoment they may come close to simulating on earth the conditions for living in space. I think we have to live like that or we will have no habitat and no large animals left, no large plants either it seems.

david,

My gut-level feeling is similar as well. Don't know yet how we transition from where we are to where we need to be.

Shift Happens.
