Whatever happened to Dave Linthicum?

Whatever happened to Dave Linthicum? Does anybody even know anymore? Has he been spotted in the past decade?

Last year OK was searching for somebody to fill a spot on the prestigious relay team. Dave's name came up and basically all of the pundits were sure that he'd be there - noone had ever turned down the opportunity to run for OK before. OK wasn't scraping the barrel either - Dave was a name long associated with the club and could be counted on for a good run. Anyway, under rather mysterious circumstances, Dave dropped off the team. Things turned out alright because Dicky N. gladly stepped in and did OK proud.

Now we are are two months from the relays again and it isn't completely clear that two OK teams can be fielded. We hear Dave's name being floated around once again. But what does that really mean? Will he come out of the woodwork at last or does Dave's reputation only live on in legend?

I don't know what is up with Dave. But, he has run on a couple of OK relay teams in the past.

He was (if I remember correctly) on the OK team at the first US relay champs. That event was hosted by Quantico on a map called "Hop Frog Run." I think the team was Dave, Gene and I.

He was also on the OK team when the relays were at French Creek, PA (1994?). That year the team was Peggy, Dave, Mary and I (if I remember correctly).

I see and talk to Dave on a regular basis. I just saw him Saturday. He continues to train, and map, but doesn't seem to have a great desire to compete. He does want to keep up a string of running an o' race at least once per YEAR (last year he went to Alaska to run one). I rather doubt he'd be interested in running on a relay team, though I did hear some promising comments from him to his girlfriend, about perhaps them both doing more o' events. Peggy isn't big into o', though, and Dave seems uninterested in going alone to a meet. Mike's right, the last time Dave ran on an OK relay team was in French Creek. He may just be happy to live on in legend... --Peggy

Peggy writes... Peggy isn't big into o'

I'm sorry to hear that! I hope Peggy will still consider running for OK at the relays.

The Peggy I was refering to, of course, is Dave's girlfriend Peggy Brosnan. Much confusion over the two Peggys. This Peggy is training hard with the Relay in mind. PD

So Pierce doesn't mind his sister running around with Dave?
