Adaptec Videoh! Good Quality or not?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I am about to buy one of the Adaptec Videoh! MPEG-1 encoders. Does anyone know if the quality of video is good? I cannot find any info on it from Adaptec's website.

Some people have also said it DOES NOT have a mode to capture to VCD 2.0 compliant mpeg files! Is this true? Also, what is the highest bitrate that you can capture at?

I have heard however that it has perfect audio/video sync even for long term encoding. Anyone know where I can get a full spec sheet?

If you find scant info on VideOh it's because that is Adaptec's answer to Dazzle. Read: blocky, noisy video. At least, unlike Dazzle, audio and video are fairly in sync, even 20 minutes or so into capture. A friend bought one ages ago and I was privileged to see the VCDs created from it, and so there.
