OT: Thanks to Dee

Thanks for your diligent postings, they save me plenty of time.

Read earlier that you haven't had any luck with herbs in the house. I'm not sure that your "thumb" is the problem! I'll bet you're probably way to kind to them, though. Herbs need fairly dry soil, fairly warm temperatures, rocks (no fooling), almost no fertilizer, and a healthy amount of neglect. Everything that applies to most other plants does not apply to herbs. Generally, they belong outdoors, unless they are a tender type that needs to be inside for the winter. Many herbs originate from the Mediterranean area, and the conditions I've indicated above most closely mimic their native lands. Any questions, just e-mail me. I'm a Master Gardener in Ohio. If I don't know the answer, I will dig it up for you.

Thanks again for all your info. I'd be glad to help repay your efforts!

Hi, Daisy Jane,

I think you're referring to Dee's comment on my thread.

I just wanted you to know that you should feel free to offer your help on my thread, if you'd like. Sometimes propagation-related questions come up, and your input would be very welcome. I can handle many propagation-related questions from a research perspective, but my actual gardening experience is rather limited. And I'm sure I could learn from you as well.

Daisy Jane, don't you mean "DT" - "Dee Topic"? ;-)

Hi, Dee,

I appreciate your postings as well -- good stuff! You've got a very positive attitude that shines through almost every post I've seen of yours; you're a true asset to the forum. Please stick around as long as you possibly can -- like, 'till there's no more forum, which hopefully means you'll be here forever...ok?

TYT (Thank You Topic)

Thank you very much Daisy Jane, Carl, eve, spider, Brooks and Capt. Dennis. I appreciate your kind comments. =)

Daisy, you have addressed my herb problem. I gave my herbs too much water. I even went so far as to play classical music for them! (If you think that is overdoing it, you should see how I spoil my cats! LOL) Well anyway...when my herbs all died...I gave up. [Good thing Y2K wasn't a 7, 8, 9, or 10 on the rollover...if I would have had to grow my own food, I would have been in trouble BIG TIME. LOL] Capt. Dennis, the garden link is a good one. I appreciate it. Lord knows I need it. =)

You all have me inspired now to try again. The fresh grown herbs taste so much better and I like the added nutritional value as well.

Best wishes to all! ~Dee
