Anyone have any thoughts about the next date in question?

Nothing will happen. Of all the 7000+ embedded and business systems we reviewed and/or remediated, there was not one that had a problem with leap year in 2000. February 29 will pass like all the other so- called trigger dates of the last two years.

I will make a prediction.

Some things will happen. Nothing so massive that would cause any citizens to pay attention. Unless they are right there at the failed system.

As I understand it, if some computer know about Feb 29, and some do not, you may have computers that disagree about the current date. This may cause some systems/networks to go into error conditions or to reject data coming from computers belonging to the other faction.

I make no predictions. But I will have an open mind if there is a "rash" of industrial/e-commerce/aviation problems on Feb. 28/Feb 29/March 1.

Predictions have been the bane of the doomers. But I will enjoy reading the discussion here after those dates have gone by.

THIS is the "real" Y2K ... Of course it will be TEOTWAWKI!

what is this Feb 29 you are talking about. Is there a Republican presidential primary on this date? This is the McCain 2000 forum, and we will only tolerate talk about John McCain here.

Go sit on a poll, Mr Troll

Prediction:

Nothing out of the ordinary will happen.

The Y2K boneheads who post here will fall all over themselves posting idiotic little stories and links about a lot of rubbish and then breathlessly report how the government and mainstream media are TPTB covering up the REAL TRUTH.

And so the witless continue to stroke one another and delude themselves that they are privy to the way things really are...

And I'll get lectured for mocking them.

Feb 29 might cause some problems with programs which handle date- stamped files. But the leap year problem for embedded systems will look like the aluminum plants in 1996 did. They went bonkers on Dec 31st because they couldn't recognize a year with 366 days.

And there are lots of reports that many programs aren't set up to recognize the year 2000 as a leap year since it doesn't fit the standard leap year pattern. Might be something that is another round of problems to finish off the year.
