I've felt very close to Prometheus, the mythic titan who was allied with the gods but betrayed them to give fire and knowledge to the humans. This has worried me quite a bit since I am, to put it bluntly, a Christian. The conflict between faith and thought used to be very central in my life; not so much for my own part - I did not see it as much of a conflict - but I found that I influenced other people to ask questions and think for themselves; and the outcome was not always happy for them. To see a friend's life breaking up because he has started to ask question is also a form of torment.
