The Y2K Pro Syndrome and the Future of the Republican Party : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Just some thoughts for comment. This board has had extensive conversations about Y2KPro [and other similar people] and his tactics. In summary, they are: If people dont agree with you attack them personally. Insult them and spread hate. If that doesnt work use any available method to try to destroy them [of course I have no information that says Y2K Pro has tried to destroy anyone; I am referencing charges made about others using these tactics].

However flawed, this is my impression of the methods used by the Republicans in Congress over the last few years. It would seem to me that the Y2K Pro's of the world are quick learners.

On a bb, this is of no overwhelming concern. In our national political system, it is. I can tell you, as a long time political independent, it has gotten my attention. In the past, I have voted a split ticket. There are still a few Republicans that I will vote for; but, in general, I will need a good reason.

When I was younger, I knew that I was right and felt an obligation to bring everyone to my view point. Being older, I havent lost the confidence in my infallibility, I just have more tolerance for the opinions of others.

BTW, I have named this the Y2K Pro syndrome. It could have been named after others. On the doomer side it could be called the Milne syndrome. For the purpose of this post I have named it after Y2K Pro.

How do you see it?

Looking at the James Carvilles and Vic Fazios of this political world, this approach is obviously limited to the republicans. How great that the democrats always take the high road. You've gotta be kidding, right?

Look on the bright side. In some countries they shoot the opposition candidate. In some countries there is no opposition candidate.

Seriously -- this is nothing new here. At least since 1776.

LOL Tom. Of course you are correct. The attacks on Clinton pale compared to the attacks on Jefferson or Jackson. I am just dealing with present conceptions.

Excellent answer. It would be even better if it related to the post. Thanks for your interest.

Best wishes,,,

Both wings of the Republicrat party are guilty of this, but I think the Dem side is worse in this respect overall. However, it doesn't really matter, as both wings are pretty much equivalent in sliminess and general worthlessness with some notable exceptions on both sides.

I must go for awhile, but keep in mind that this is a version of the Brooklyn Bridge explanation.

I get your point Z. The repug party is clueless. But by only mentioning the repug party, it leaves the impression that you do not consider the opposition party as using the same tactics. Is THAT what you were implying about the repugs? And since this is your opinion of the repugs, then do you feel more positive about the demophlegms?

But yes, the Y2k Pro syndrome is a good name. And Y2k Pro is every bit as clueless as the repugs and demophlegms.

Yep, you got that right. I am just talking about the people in power at the moment.

best wishes,,,,,
