? regarding Carter and a what if

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Carter donate one of his kidney's earlier? If so and it appears that he was stabbed in the kidney, and from reviewing the previews (summarized below) I've come to the following theory.

Carter's kidney starts to fail and surgery can't repair it. Lucy stabilizes after surgery, but something happens and she dies. Since kidneys are generally a universally transferrable organ, one of her kidneys are transplanted into Carter. I think this would make a tremendous storyline for Carter in the upcoming May sweeps. I.E. his guilt for the way he treated her, and her life-saving gift.

The reason I think the writers have Carter failing initially is this: In one scene, Luka is doing cpr (chest compressions) on a patient that I can't make out. In another scene Benton, Dave, and Carrie are working on Lucy in Trauma 1. Therefore Luka, Mark, and Corday must be working on Carter.

BTW - I've always enjoyed reading everyone's thoughts & theories, but this ep was the first one I felt I had to respond to.

I don't remember him ever donating a kidney. He donated bone marrow to his brother when he was a kid, but as far as I know, never a kidney.

Hey, that's some really awesome analysis!I would'nt be surprised if that actually did happen, you should be a writer for the show. But anyway, whatever happens, I completly can't wait until next week!!!!

I agree, I don't think that Carter has ever donated a kidney in the show. However there was an episode(I can't remember which one)where a brother donated his kidney to his older sister. Carter was asked to assist in the operation. This could be what you're thinking about.

As if the guy's not going to have survivor's guilt bad enough...lol...if she gives him a kidney, my god will he feel even worse!! :) Poor Carter! Good thinking though! :)
