illness that effects immune system and bones

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Maine Coon Cats : One Thread

Hello! I've posted about my cat before, but I have some new information so I thought that I would try again. I have a male Maine Coon who will be two in March. His name is Quincy and he is adorable and sweet. He has had four fractures in a year. Three were involving both tibias and one was his heel. He is an inside only cat and basically there is no reasonable way that he could be getting these fractures. They did a bone biopsy which came back completely normal. They sent his x-rays to a board certified radiologist at Michigan State University. Again, normal. They did blood tests and his thryoid was normal as well as normal calcium and phosphorus levels. He is negative for FIV, FIP, and Feline Leukemia. He now has come down with a "kitty cold" and has had it two months despite treatment. The vet finds this extremely unusually and thinks that maybe the two are related. Has anybody every heard of anything even remotely like this?

This may sound obvious and incredibly cynical, but is your cat exposed to anyone who could have the potential to hurt him?

I'm pretty sure that no one would be hurting him. He is an inside only cat. It is just me and my husband and we have no children. He still is a mystery!
