5 WORD SUMMARY of whats going on in the world

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Everything is on the edge. Governments, businesses, families, education, farming - you name it - all are nearly overwhelmed! Since so much is near the breaking point, the consequences are mistakes, failures, breakdowns etc. Couple this with increased accceleration of change and we have the recipe for disaster. Soon and very soon we all fall down!

I agree. I've agreed with that statement since... oh, about 1982.

Things have BEEN on the edge since the early 80's. OK, maybe several years earlier.

So... what's new?

Weasel,

Is that my lovely bride hiding behind that romantic name?? It must be. She's the only one who promises 5 words and delivers about 50!!

you're so right.

when i speak with people who have 'been around' a while (i'm 50), they all concede that things have gotten so much worse during the past 20 years (more crime, more work, more tension .. everything but more peace!).

its amazing that things have gone on this long without 'breaking'. i cant believe the economy has survived like it has.

may God help us all.

Check out a book called the Fourth Turning. An excellent discussion of the cycles of history and how they affect America, et al. Including why we 'feel' the times, and how we are now leaving the time of 'unraveling' and headed into the period of 'crises'. I feel it, but then I am old and bald, so much extra radiation leaks into my brain.

Been that way since that day on the bridge with Horatio.

Come on guys...its not getting worse...Clinton says the crime rate is down...of course he made a lot of illegal stuff legal... and he says that the economy is booming... of course he was only really speaking about his wife's bank account... and planes aren't really falling out of the sky...of course they are fly safety from point to point either...and what y2k problem... it the hacker, or the Christians, or the alarmist who made us mess up all the computers... oh yeh, things aren't worse ... the media would tell us if it were ... however, if you tell the truth or is an eye witness to accounts of international drug smuggling or something like that...you got to watch out not to end up dead because of suicide...of course the suicide was committed in one place and your dead body drove across town to dump itself, with five shots to head and a couple extra suicide blasts to the abodomem... but the real problem in our economy isn't the power companies producing power ... or heating oil to easterners, or planes crashing to earth, or corrupt data influencing every aspect of personal and corporate - financial life, or the one going saga of 80 plus graves of Clinton's closest friends (body guards), poisonous spills of every type into the waters, air and vaccines, or chemical and oil refineries...the biggest problem in the world today is that the media is part of a passification(sp)program to deceive the public just long enough to believe it themselves and convience the public that the government will take care of them no matter what alarmist and extremist will do. And we have a world harding their hearts against the obvious truth...sort of like an old Bible story about a man named Moses and the King of Egypt... God allowed the King of Egypt to believe the lie and defend his pride until God got fed up with the Monarch and harden his heart and the people's heart so that GOD could show HIMSELF as the only one to trust and obey.

The problem today, no one listens to the truth because GOD has said "Payback is MINE" (in my own words of course, these things must be... but no reason to stop warning...that seems to be our journey...to inform...to make available what is going on...and maybe more people will take their head out of the sand, then maybe not... but as for me and my household, We're not going to trust the government, it's systems, it's money, it's appointees, its law, it justice, or its media... We are going to remain alert, prepared...in fact, I thought I had my family really prepared up to 010100 ...but now that I see this corruption of news in the liberal media and the state of our Republic to be what it is... I am going to prepare more for the really tough times ahead... it is falling...and its going to crash... and we know it and they don't believe it... because their religion is: "PLEASE ME AND I'LL SAY YES"

EVERYTHING IS ON EDGE ...THANKS WEASEL... YOU ARE A GREAT ASSET!

Wildweasel---Thanks for not forgetting that there's still a crisis in agriculture, too...and that in fact the Ag Crisis of the '80's never really went away...the problems impacting the globalization, vertical-intergration, and monopolization of American agriculture are very profound and affect all of us, not just the 1.75% (average age 59 or 60) that feed so many at such a great cost to themselves and their families. Did you know that in our history the condition of the American farmer has been prophetic for the rest of the economy? For example, guess what the only sector of the US economy was, that was in economic trouble during the white-hot, speculation-fueled Roaring Twenties?
