OT Executive Order and genetic testing!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Call me what you may but, it seems to me that the EO forbidding Government Agencies from discrimination against a person based on their genetic coding, is just as easily seen as posturing for the acceptance of standard testing practices. President Clinton will sign a Exec Order today stipulating this "CONDITION" He says he hopes that private industry and insurance companies will follow the directive and not use the results from the genetic tests as grounds for decisions which would discriminate against an individual that MAY BE, maybe, a candidate for health problems (or whatever) YEA RIGHT!!!. The implications of this are truly horrific. The questions that this poses, gush from the places nightmares are born.

Michael, I agree whole heartedly:

Forbidding discrimination of applicants based on DNA rests on the ASSUMPTION that DNA *WILL* be collected from applicants.

WTF???!!! Yet another little sneak toward an Orwelian society?

.....if asked to submit DNA at an interview, I will explain that I do not own any DNA; it belongs to God; if they want a sample then they will have to ask HIM!

....still dyin to know what the feds at the biometrics symposium today were told to employ to minimize the possibility of being viewed as "Big Brother" when collecting samples....The only thing I *know* of that would effect tha would be that little silver wand thingy with the red flas in the movie "Men In Black", heh.

Me no like this DNA testing crap.

In the movement of the tides, including those through science and society, we will all face our nightmares.

Shall we do it with mindfulness and focus, or run around whining as spoiled and frightened children?

Pliney

We had a planishpere/plineysphere perspective of the world only a short time ago. The forward thinkers of that day thought otherwise. It would seem that you would have missed that boat also.

Pliney Blinkin-in-the-Sun -

You actually dare to 'think'.

That scares people.

Got it?

-- steve (WhoCares@nymore.Right?com), February 08, 2000.

I don't see any other 'way' it can be done - responsibly.

Perhaps some missed 'the drift' of the ideas you were pointing above...made perfect sense to me.

I for one plan to whine.

An awful lot of folks had there blood tested during this last Flu that wasn't like any other flu.

-- mush (mush@psicorps.com), February 08, 2000.

Anyone who has applied for health or life insurance in recent years will already know that their questions are getting more and more intrusive. I, for one, feel it is a pretty short leap from what's going on to them demanding samples. After all, if any conditions occur which were proven to be omitted on your application, they will not pay out anyway. Insurance companies don't want to lose. And they do everything in their power to make sure they don't. We don't matter a fiddler's damn to them except to generate premiums for nothing.

I'll tell them to kiss my ass. No sample, period.

If you have had a child in a hospital then you and that child have been "typed", including DNA. If you are the husband/father of the mother/child and gave blood, just in case, as dr.'s recommend, then you have also been typed. Even if you have not and will not be typed then your children will be, when born. Obviously TPTB are long range thinkers. Do you think they care if you are typed when they are guaranteed to type your kids?

Sort of OT, but I GUARANTEE, one of the first uses they will introduce to the public re: the chip(Digital Angel) will be the safety of your kids. Who would not want their kids traceable in the event of kidnapping? Who cares if our generation isn't implanted, our kids will be! IF you refuse to have your kids implanted, then for their safety, because of your abusive nature, they will just implant it during a vaccination. The technology is already in development stages to implant these "chips" simultaneously with a vaccine without the parents or child knowing.

Forgive me, I am an alarmist. Go back to sleep now. Just focus on the tv, that's it. Sleep, sleep, sleep...

Just Curious,

That is exactly what happened--"for the children" digital demon has already aired on Oprah. She thought it was just nifty. Loved the idea.

Curious - "Obviously TPTB are long range thinkers. Do you think they care if you are typed when they are guaranteed to type your kids?"

Agreed, but to what end? I envision an intersection of many planes here, that bode ill fate. Just a couple of them would be the "million monkeys..." and the "absolute power..." postulates colliding to affect the disrobing of mankind to the benefit of TPTB. It does not come close the models followed by either the extreme right or left. It certainly doesn't bring to mind any model that would facilitate a "good for all". So then why? Kidnapping, while certainly evil, cannot be the "BIG PICTURE" here.

We cannot even keep our most crucial secrets from those that would use them against us. What chance have we, that this information will not be eventually used against us, instead of for our own good? This grieves me deeply. Are we not rushing at warp speed toward our final chapter?

President Clinton boasts on TV about the near future event of manipulating the genome. We have been warned through the Word of God what fate awaits those that would prematurely eat from the tree of life, or in other words, attempt to be God. It happened to Luicfer, and to Adam. Apparently it is about to happen to us.

Michigan has been DNA sampling of all infants born since about the 1980's. To protect them against kidnapping? My children were born before the tests. I don't know if I could find a link or not.

-- Rose (only rose please) (r.1@juno.com), February 09, 2000.

Re Rose's comment: during the years of service in government I did a stint in a state health department in the prenatal unit. A program of testing for hiv was conducted on the patients without thier knowledge.Plenty of testing being done of which the general population is not aware. It's IMPLIED in statistical analyses and report data bases, but you have to know what to look FOR and what you're looking AT. Not paranoia, just sop any government with a tech base. And don't just make small noises about this DNA business. Start screaming. It's dangerous unless the administrators are men and women of absolute integrity and I think that won't happen in our lifetimes.

http://www.mdch.state.mi.us/mcgpp/final/newborn.htm

This is not all, apparently all but two states do blood tests for newborn abnormalities and they don't need parental consent. These records are kept indefinitely along with the dried blood samples which then can be used for DNA information. In Michigan they have been accessed in child abduction cases for identification purposes. ie. Blood samples in a suspects car.

I hope this helps. Info on how to create a link would be useful.
