My Mistake!(not-so-obvious!)NOT-missing categories

greenspun.com : LUSENET : People Photography : One Thread

Uh-oh! My original remarks were based on checking the categories at the bottom of the "current" message page...which I mistook for a list of ALL categories. I believe, instead, that they reflect only those cats. in which questions have been "filed away". I returned to Shawn's welcoming remarks/description of his site...and lo-and-behold--"Glamour" and "The Human Figure"...both listed as categories. So I most certainly apologise for my oversight, and stand corrected!! I am left, though, with this question... I can't reconcile the prohibition "NO NUDITY" with "The Human Figure!" I don't recall ever seeing any such category where the real, itended meaning was "The CLOTHED Human Figure". Perhaps Shawn will explain. Thanks for the responses, anyway...interesting comments! Larry:

I was very surprised by your concerns; wherever people photography is discussed on the internet, glamour and "art" nude work will surely become an important part of the discussion.

What's more likely to be missing are discussions on the sorts of photos professionals must make far more frequently; business, lifestyle, directed sports images, and portraits of every type.

One could easily get the impression from internet discussion groups that professional modeling is mostly about young women taking off their clothes and the photos of nude women are the main things that galleries show.

It's a shame that there isn't more than this out there, but who wants reality to intrude here?

I was hoping no one would notice some of the categories for a few weeks (ahem...). Anyways, see your last post; I'm sure you'll be plesantly surprised. shawn
