I'm a long time black & white fine art photographer shooting 6x6 and 6x7 negs. Up to now I have sent my negs to a service bureau for the 6-pak scans and print some pretty nice 16x20 prints from these 72 meg files (24M grayscale) I bought Genuine Fractals 2.0 and it sems to work well. Has anyone bought a medium price scanner (about a $1000 or so) with the thought of then using Gen. Fract. to make larger high quality prints? I now pay $10 for a 6-pak scan but need a flat bed for other

You are doing the right thing. You can't buy a medium format scanner for under $1,000 that give you scans that good. I've tried. Even the UMAX Powerlook III (1200 dpi) won't get you close to the quality off the Pro CD. There is a major void for the MF shooter who wants to go digital. You have to jump to the $7,000 range to get decent (high rez)scans. I have to resorted to shooting some of my landscapes with 35mm and stitching shots together after scanning with a Polaroid sprint Scan Plus. The 35 scanners are much higher rez, so I end up with a Psudo medium format shot. Good Luck --PC
