THAI plane makes emergency landing

A Paris-bound THAI airliner made a safe emergency landing in Budapest on Sunday following minor technical problems, said the officials of the national airline.

The TG 930 flight, a Boeing 747-400, left the Bangkok airport Saturday afternoon but failed to land at the Charles de Gaulle airport at 7 a.m. Sunday due to air conditioning malfunction caused by the breakdown of the pneumatic system.

The situation forced the plane to maintain an altitude below 10,000 feet, a fuel consuming level. As pilots feared for insufficient fuel supply, they made an emergency landing at 5 a.m. (local time) at Budapest where 337 passengers were transferred to a chartered airplane to Paris.

On the same day a THAI flight from Karachi also made an emergency landing at Don Muang airport in response to malfunction warning lights. ===============================

Is this yet another "cabin pressure" failure?

Yes, Squirrel Hunter, sounds like a cabin pressurization problem since flight was restricted to 10000 feet. However, there's no reason to believe a Y2k bug was involved. Air molecules have pretty much the same properties from one day to the next.

Hey Butt Nugget,

Just wanted to say how much I appreciate your humorous contributions to the discourse. I don't know if some of the other folks here remember it, but I am STILL chuckling over your questions to Gordon Gecko when he magnanimously offered to field any and all questions on the oil & gas industry. Killer!!

Did Gordo ever inform you as to what kind of oil would work best in that car of yours? Or which grease to apply to your hair to achieve that retro "greaser" look you're thinking of going to?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
