Answers

It's very kind of you to post such a nice thought, ET. Thank you.

-- Old Git (anon@spamproblems.com), February 07, 2000.

I am so sorry someone did that to you. I really am sorry. Most on this site are caring people. But, learn to have a tough hide, sticks an stones may brake my bones but words will never harm me. This is a good rule, that way, no one can silence you.

-- ET (bneville@zebra.net), February 07, 2000.

I agree.

-- tim phronesia (phronesia@webtv.net), February 07, 2000.

Why, thank you ET, and I wholeheartedly agree.

I very much appreciate all posters on this board (even the ones with whom I disagree) because we are all thinking and observing and sharing our opinions regardless of what others think and post

I have been here for about 8 months, lurking less and posting more as time goes by because of the intelligence and caring and watchfulness of the people that are here

It is we who are awakening that will help all through the times ahead, and I feel enriched to be in such good company.

Thank you All,

Laurie

I didn't agree with him but it was his on way of thinking. I don't really think he as more or less, well I am trying. He did care in his own way, we just didn't agree. Everybody doesn't agree, life is that way, but we have more pressing problems today.

Everyone posted at once. I meant that I agree with ET.

This board has a great collection of people willing to share their time, insights, and energy.

looks like some replies got deleted.

Thanks ET, people caring makes the virtual community "work".
Some people that post free investment advice here could charge clients big bucks for the same advice.(and some is worth the price you paid for it, the fun part is knowing the difference)
Ask a question on almost any subject, and you will get several thoughtful replies from people that care enough to try and help.

ET, you're absolutely right - we do have many wonderful people here who care. For me, that's one of the main draws.

On a different thread a few days ago, OG made the analogy of how this forum is quite similar to a good old fashioned neighborhood watering hole, and I tend to agree. If you've ever lived in an established neighborhood, chances are good you've seen a couple of bars/taverns, or as I'd like to call them - 'joints' - that attract the locals. Most everyone knows everybody else; that's not to say that everyone agrees on everything, nor gets along perfectly all the time. Some people are there every day, others less frequently...a lot, I think, like this forum. Occasionally, there's a rogue 'loudmouth' who has to be right, or has something to 'prove', or in general just wants to be obnoxious - no matter what - but they generally don't last long. The folks that come for information, camaraderie, etc., usually *do* care about their fellow neighbors even if they don't share the same philosophical ideals. Many times, if there's a neighbor in need or a project that needs doing, the 'wheels' are set in motion at the neighborhood bar. I see the same thing here. It was nice of you to mention it. Glad you're with us!

Cheers!

You have proved what I said!

-- ET (bneville@zebra.net), February 08, 2000.

you're right on target ET....it is all about caring....Thanks

In response to the original question...yes

-- sandy (rstyree@overland.net), February 08, 2000.

ET,

Thank you so much. You're seeing what I see and have experienced. And even sometimes when we may not seem so nice, we usually mean well.

Y2K Pro,

Thank you for your very supportive statement that, in essence, out of the one million (?) or so statements ever made on this forum, 999,998 were nice. Oh, Pro, what would we do without ya?

-- eve (eve_rebekah@yahoo.com), February 08, 2000.

Pro, When are you going to grow up? How many times are you going to beat this dead horse? The comments you post are history and are certainly not the feelings of most of the folks here. Let it rest. Surely you have something better to do.

-- (rcarver@inacom.com), February 08, 2000.

Is Y2K Pro gainfully employed or is he independently wealthy? If he has a job he must be cheating his employer out of the valuable time he is spending to glean the archives for every negative post he can find.

He made the remark on Debunkers "It is a lot of fun to rub their noses in it". It would seem that has become his major goal in life. If this has really become an obsession with him, then we should pity him.

Pro,

Regarding your comment that by not opposing these statements we supported them:

You're assuming that most people here read all of the threads, and therefore must have been exposed to these comments. Personally, I only have the time to go through those threads whose titles or posters in some way interest me. And, sometimes, when I get particularly busy, I miss a lot of threads that I would probably have wanted to read as well.

And why would you suppose that even the people who read these comments and remained silent necessarily support them? There are various reasons people may not choose to post a message. I would think that some of these would be fairly obvious, but if you'd like to know some, let me know and I'll be glad to oblige.

Finally, why would you even assume that the people who posted on those particular threads, and therefore probably saw those comments, yet remained silent, necessarily supported them? To give you just one reason, maybe they were too tied up in other points that were raised and dismissed these statements as ridiculous, hateful, off-the- wall remarks that didn't deserve even negative attention.

Pro, come on, give it a rest. I'm sure you're intellectually capable of moving on and actually discussing the issues with the rest of us.

Y2K Pro:

I don't know why I bother to respond. Everytime I do, your message is deleted. You do post accurate quotes. But sometimes you don't interpreted them correctly. The quote about democrats dieing. Note the small d. I pointed this out in the original post. This doesn't refer to members of an organized party in this country. This refers to all non-dictator worshipers.

Best wishes,,,,

Yup, a pretty nice bunch all in all.

But there's always one, in every crowd.

And what was the other one... Oh yea,

It takes all kinds! <:)=
