OT (Humor) - Silly User Tricks

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

The following exchange took place this morning:

(Note: Client XYZ is a fairly large client who, due to internal politics and some backward thinking, is having real trouble adapting to this new life on the Internet.)

Acct Rep: Client XYZ has notified us that they are no longer going to pay for any kind of connectivity to Internet or for their domain name.

Me:OK then, so I should delete them from the system?

Acct Rep:Not exactly.

Me:What does 'not exactly' mean?

Acct Rep:Well, they still want email.

Me:Uh, I'm not sure I understand...

Acct Rep:They want to know if there's any way to get Internet email without having any Internet connection.

Me:Uh, for example?

Acct Rep:Could we fax it to them?

Me:Uh, let me get this straight. Client XYZ is going to disconnect from the Internet, release their domain name, and still wants us to still accept email for them at that domain name and fax it to them?

Acct Rep:Something like that...

Me:Perhaps you should come back when there's something I can do to help..

Only on a Monday....

The PROPER opening for this post would have been "Position self on floor before reading".

Arnie are you at all aware of the damage that a hose clamp can do? Particularly when it is an integral part of an antenna not put up yet and one falls out of the chair onto it??? I'm OK since it only hurts when I laugh....

Just received an E-mail this am that CNN has reported congress is going to be voting soon on placing toll fees on Internet access. Sorry, no link.
