The most common bird image in Florida

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Nature Photography Image Critique : One Thread

Called snake bird, the anhinga swims and dives for their food. After, they need to dry out their feathers and this is when they get photographed. This shot taken at the Univ. of Florida stormwater pond, aka Lake Alice. U.F. drains the lake to the drinking aquifer, so those down gradient have water flavored with anhinga tirds, coon crap, possum poop ... N70, sigma 400, back lit fog.

The downstream water quality may be questionable but the silhouette of this snake bird on a foggy day is not. Excellent composition making very good use of the postition of the bird, branches and lighting. Good one!

In a perfect world, I'd want that one fuzzy branch to be in focus. Here in real life, this is a great shot. If this is the most "common" bird image in Florida, common must mean something different here in Atlanta than it does down there.

Larry,

This may be the most commonly photogaphed bird in Florida, but your shot is uncommonly good. This is pleasantly different from other anhinga shots I've seen. Beautiful shot!
