Mirror lock up on EOS 5

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Camera Equipment : One Thread

Just got an EOS 5, 8 yrs old design but a lot more convenient than my trusty EOS 630. How do I activate mirro-lock? Is the Custom Function to use timer the only way to activiate it? thanks in advance, lucian,

Custom function 12 will enable the MLU. When CF12 is activated, the mirror will travel up and the shutter will fire two seconds later. mwd

Would be nice to have this same setup for MLU on the EOS 3. This is a wonderful camera but the MLU sucks.

I'm assuming the EOS 5 works just like the A2. I have the A2 and when you set CF12 to "1" you also need to press the "timer" button on the top plate. MLU will not activate until you press the timer button.

Jim, can you explain more why MLU doesn't work as well on the EOS 3?

I'm sorry, that would be "Jeff" not Jim...

Actually it works fine. Just a pain to activate. You have to open the little door, press the CF button, go to the right cf. To deactivate you have open the little door again and press the cf again, select cf for MLU and deactivate. The A2 (EOS 5), You set the cf permanantly and just activate and deactivate quickly using the self timer on top of the camera. Sorry to be so late in responding.
