Gossen LunaPro F,does it do flash without attachments

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Camera Equipment : One Thread

I recently picked up a TLR and have been looking for a lightmeter. I have searched here and photonet and have narrowed my search to maybe 3 meters. The Luna Pro F is at the top of the list(I'm partial to analog I think) but from comments in the archives I am not sure if a basic LunaPro F will do flash without attachments. I have even been to Gossen's website and there it has "N/A" listed under flash for LunaPro F,yet it goes on to list the flash sync speeds for it. I may not need the flash but have found a used F without manual, so I cant look it up, at about the same price as the LunaPro non-F goes for on e-bay . It appears to be in good shape.A yes or no answer would be fine, but comments pro or con would also be appreciated.

Yes, the LunaProF does flash readings without attachments, either in incident or reflected mode. A button on the side of the meter changes it from ambient (pushed in) to flash (out). I like analog meters also and I've had mine for six or seven years now.

The Pro F does do flash readings as stated but the only thing I found a bit bothersome was there was no synch socket. All I did to rectify this was to get some extension cord (light weight electrical wire), a 2 prong electric plug and a trip button from Radio Shack. I would plug the plug into my power pack, take the meter over to the table top and trip the light with the little push button and take a meter reading. If you are using it for studio stuff, make the cord long enough so that you can walk around the set... Other than that, the Pro F is so reliable, I still use it to calibrate my other meters!
