Tek;

You don't have to convert them, all you have to do is copy a .DAT files to your hard drive and go to your CD-Burner software and you will be able to import that .DAT files directly to your burner software.

actually that might not be a 100% correct. I did that method with a vcd and NOTHING on my system after i recopied it back wanted to read it. The programs i had to also turn it back to a vcd said the file may have been corrupt, or it gave wrong info and would not let me do a vcd with a white book specs. This is why i had to get a .dat to mpeg converter. When i did this the file was fine and then i was able to re-burn it

Just rename it to .mpg and it will work fine.

Spot on Blackout, just rename it on the hdd and re burn it. Some say you cane join them into one file but so far I have had no sucess, the first one plays and the dvd player locks on the first joint and the computer goes into slow motion at the first joint and finally locks up, more or less a failure I would say, but some succeed.

Well, my .dat is from Easy cd Pro read track feature. The file is named .iso by the Easy cd pro software. (In fact it is track 2 of a vcd) It can be read from VCD power player and other vcd software, but cannot be read from vcdgeargui, for converting to mpg file. When read from any iso software, it is not recognized and the software assumed it to be a raw file. Does anybody know what to do with this file in order to burn it back to a vcd. I have tried to rename it to mpg and/or .dat and burn it using Nero vcd feature but the cd cannot be read from any pc based vcd software nor from my Panasonic vcd player. Any help will be appreciated

U can use vcd gear software. mpeg are different from .dat. You can play .dat in mpeg players. But .dat contains some extra header files for play with vcd players

Is it too much to ask that people read the previous posts before asking the same question repeatedly (after it has already been answered)??
