Christians ? Ha !!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : The Christian Church : One Thread

I just made the mistake of looking to see if there was any learned discussion on the place and duties of Elders in todays Christian Church. I found a gotcha diatribe discussing Elders and Eldership. I have never seen such a grouping of rude, sarcastic, and pompous statements, by people who call themselves Christians. I have seen better manners shown by alley cats in the middle of a cat fight.

I fail to see any of the rudeness, sarcasm, pomposity, and ill mannerly behavior this person mentions. And I was in the thick of that discussion! Sure, it was a very heated discussion with very polarized opinions! But is that a sin? Just because Christians disagree, and disagree vociferously, on a topic which has absolutely nothing to do with one's salvation, does not mean they are not Christians. Certainly even the Apostles had very heated disagreements. Even Peter and Paul got in each other's faces! Did they just "call themselves" Christians? Or were they Christians who also had very heart-felt passions? Like every other human being on the planet?

"Do not judge others, so that God will not judge you, for God will judge you in the same way you judge others, and he will apply to you the same rules you apply to others."

Mr Wells,

I am new to this forum, but I would like you to refer me to the threads you are referring to. I went looking, and spent an hour of sheer delight studying the ideas presented here concerning leadership. No "gotcha" diatribe or alley cats.

But, more importantly, what was the purpose of your post? Is that it? Just to make a statement about other people's statements?

Whenever people use the phrase "by people who call themselves Christians" I always want to ask them:

What is YOUR definition of Christian?

What kind of information are you seeking? If you don't like some of the other posts, start one of your own. Here, let me help you:
