Hi folks. I get different opinions as to which Minox 8X11's were available in black. I'm really only interested in the C and earlier. I know the C and B were made in black; how about the IIIS, III, II, A, Riga, etc.? I also hear that a small number of A's were made plated with 18K gold! All info appreciated. Looking for a IIIS in black, by the way :)

Besides the total black Minox 8x11 models listed above, there are 'partially black' models with black dials:

1. Gold plated Minox LXwith black dials.
2. titanium finished TLX with black dials
3. LX-2000 millenium edition in black with gold color dials

Up to now, all total black metal Minox 8x11 cameras are anodized aluminium shell with black dye.

CLX is chrome plated (brass shell ).

Leica likes silver chrome and black chrome body.

I will not be surprized if a black chrome CLX with brass shell (properly embosed ) shows up.

Black Minox AIII exist and these are original Minox factory production, even if made to special order and not as is sometimes seem someones' more recent garage/homemade blackening of a standard chrome/silver AIII.

There are also black As in metric - it has been reported that all black AIIIs went to the USA.

MArtin was almost correct in a black chrome (? I thought chrome was alwyays silver) brass camera would be made - the LX 2000 with gold trim. The Aviator is a TLX with titan dials luminous numbers and a black shell, 2001 release of only 300.
