It seems that my company's Nikon Coolpix 950 tears through batteries in an abnormal way. Can it be true that all of these models are the same, eating a 4 pack of AA batteries every day it is used? Does anyone else have this problem -or better, know of a viable solution? Thanks in advance to your replies

Your doing great if you get one day off regular batteries, either buy rechargables or stock in Energizer :)

Another thing that really helps is to keep set the autofocus to only focus when the shutter is half depressed (available in the MRec menu only) instead of constantly focusing. The autofocus really eats batteries. Also make sure you've got 30 seconds til sleep in both rec and play menues. In sleep it uses virtually no power.

I find a set of NiMH batteries lasts well past each 32 MB cf card for me. I'd heard that these cameras really eat batteries, but the way I'm using the camera a set lasts me all week.

Buy at least 2 sets of batteries and the charger from Thomas- distributing and this becomes a non-issue. With a 2 hr quick charge your new set of batteries are ready a long time before you use up the set in the camera. I also got a wire to run the batttery charger in the car. You can charge up in between locations.

Amwaiting for Nikon to come up with the lithium batteries - does the EN-EL1 lithium-ion battery pack work on the Coolpix 950? Unless this battery problem is solved, I will just throw away my 950. 'nuf said.
